Ian Rush is a former Welsh professional footballer who played as a striker. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest goalscorers in the history of Liverpool Football Club. Rush was born on October 20, 1961 in St Asaph, Wales.
Rush joined Liverpool in 1980 and quickly established himself as a key player for the club, helping them win numerous titles, including five English League championships, three FA Cups, and five League Cups. He was particularly prolific in front of goal, scoring a remarkable 346 goals in just 660 appearances for Liverpool.
In addition to his club success, Rush was also a key player for the Welsh national team, earning 73 caps and scoring 28 goals for his country. He represented Wales in two FIFA World Cup tournaments, in 1982 and 1986.
After leaving Liverpool in 1996, Rush played for a number of other clubs, including Juventus, Newcastle United, and Sheffield United. He retired from professional football in 2000, having scored more than 400 goals in his career.
