Thiago determined to do better at Liverpool this season

Thiago Alcantara is glad to have finally joined up with the Liverpool squad for pre-season training and wants to improve on last season’s third-placed finish in the Premier League.

“I’m never pleased with my performance, I always want more and more and more and more,” the Brazilian midfielder told the club website. “The minimum we have to give is how we ended with these wins, with these extraordinary moments, but at the end, it was just about pushing because of the situation that we had.

“We weren’t happy enough, so we were pushing to be as happy as we could, but now we start from zero and we want everything, we want to win everything again.”

Thiago’s first season at Liverpool last year coincided with a dip in form and injury crisis with the team’s central defensive partnership of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez ruled out for most of the campaign. Despite that the Reds improved at the end of the campaign to qualify for this season’s Champions League.

When asked about the Thiago song the fans created last season, Thiago added:

“It’s a funny one and there’s a video! You get a bit shy with it but then during the game you just hear your name and it motivates you, for sure. In the game you are just focused on what’s going on and when you hear the chanting, it’s so nice to hear.”

The song is based on the Gibson Brothers hit Cuba and someone has edited the original video, superimposing the faces of Thiago, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Jurgen Klopp on the singers. We can’t wait to be singing it on the Kop this season.
