Liverpool FC Youth Academy

The Academy has been a dream of Liverpool youth coach Steve Heighway.

The £14million development boasts twelve footballing pitches, including all weather surfaces and an Operations Centre containing changing rooms, a state-of-the-art physiotherapy and medical centre, administrative offices, classes and dining facilities.

“We felt that Melwood wasn’t big enought to cope with everybody who was using it and so it made sense for us to set ourselves up in a new Academy,” said Steve Heighway.

“I have never seen anything like it before. In the planning stages we went to clubs like Ajax and Auxerre to see their acadamies and got some good ideas from those trips.

“Along with our thoughts I now think we have the best of everything and it reflects well on Liverpool FC that we have the best Academy anywhere in Europe.”
