Tributes pour in for Liverpool legend Ian St John

Former Liverpool and Scotland forward Ian St John has passed away at the age of 82.

Saint was one of Bill Shankly‘s key players during the club’s rise during the 1960’s and scored 118 goals in 425 games.

He later became one of the biggest football pundits on television on the Saint & Greavesie show with Jimmy Greaves.

A statement from the St John family read:

“It is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you that after a long illness we have lost a husband, father and grandfather.

“He passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside. We would like to thank all the staff at Arrowe Park Hospital for their hard work and dedication during these very difficult times.”

Players past and present have paid tribute to Saint on social media…
