It has been confirmed that Joel Matip has unfortunately ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and is likely to miss the rest of the season.
The Cameroon international picked up the injury in Sunday’s 4-3 win over Fulham and it’s not looking good, with the defender’s current contract expiring at the end of the season.
“It’s an ACL, ruptured. It’s what I unfortunately expected from the first second,” said Jurgen Klopp after Wednesday night’s game. “Everything looked like that. It’s very unfortunate.”
