Simon Mignolet’s hopes of a move to Napoli before the Italian transfer window closes on Friday have been dashed.
The Serie A club have instead opted to sign Arsenal’s David Ospina on loan with an option to buy in the summer.
That leaves the Belgian stopper with even less options as transfer windows around Europe are closing for the winter.
With very little opportunity behind new signing Alisson Becker and Loris Karius, Mignolet’s best hope for regular first team football may lie in a loan move to a Championship club.
