Liverpool v Everton – Early Team News

As Liverpool prepare for Sunday’s Merseyside derby there’s a lot at stake for both teams. The Reds need a win to maintain their bid for the Premier League title, while Everton are scrambling for points to avoid relegation.

Jurgen Klopp suggested in his press conference on Friday that Roberto Firmino might not be fully fit for the game at Anfield.

“Bobby, getting better and better. It’s just uncomfortable, painful,” he said. “Today it’s his first day on the pitch, so there’s still two days to go, so maybe.

“If Bobby gives the thumbs-up then he will be involved. And not, then we wait another few days, but then I think after that it should be possible.”

It’s a lot more likely that Firmino will be on the bench, but otherwise Klopp has a fully fit squad to select from. The biggest question will be whether he opts for Naby Keita or Jordan Henderson in midfield.

Expected starting XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Thiago, Henderson, Mane, Jota, Salah.
