Liverpool v Bournemouth – Match Preview

Liverpool will be looking to turn around their current run of poor form when they host Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3pm).

Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota, Joel Matip, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ibrahima Konate are all still injured, while Darwin Nunez serves his three-match suspension for headbutting Crystal Palace’s Joachim Anderson last week.

Head-to-head

  • Liverpool have won the last six games between the two clubs by an aggregate score of 19-1m while Bournemouth have never won at Anfield (D1, L7) and have just one win in total against Liverpool in 17 games in all competitions.
  • Liverpool have lost just one of their last 33 Premier League games against newly promoted sides, with that defeat coming against Fulham in March 2021. If they fail to win it will be the first time they’ve not won one of any of their opening four league matches since 2012.
  • The Reds haven’t lost consecutive top-flight games since March 2021.
  • Jurgen Klopp’s side have conceded the opening goal in each of their last seven Premier League matches.
  • Mohamed Salah has scored eight goals in six Premier League fixtures against Bournemouth and needs one more goal to overtake Steven Gerrard as Liverpool’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League (the pair are currently tied on 120 goals).
  • Roberto Firmino has failed to score in his last 20 Premier League matches at Anfield.
