Liverpool set sights on Mount

Mason Mount is Liverpool’s number-one transfer target this summer, according to reports.

The Echo claim that the Reds have stepped up their interest in Chelsea’s England international as they look to bolster their midfield ahead of next season.

The 24-year-old has less than 15 months remaining on his current contract at Stamford Bridge with no movement on a new deal forthcoming as he slips further down the pecking order at the club.

Chelsea need to balance the books in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations and selling Mount, alongside Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi may be needed to appease the regulators.
