Adam Lallana was welcomed back to Anfield in style yesterday. His name was cheered when the teams were read out before the game, he received a standing ovation when substituted and the Kop sang his name as he went around the ground to applaud the fans after the game.
“Huge appreciation to every single person inside Anfield for the welcome and reception today,” he said on Instagram. “Will always be a second home for me. I’ll never take it for granted. Thank you to a very special football club.”
Lallana was denied the opportunity to say a proper farewell to the Liverpool fans after he was sold to Brighton in July 2020, so Saturday was a touching moment for all.
