Klopp’s reaction to Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat at Real Madrid

Liverpool were lacklustre in their 3-1 Champions League quarter-final first leg at Real Madrid and have left a lot to do in the home leg next week.

The home side punished the Reds’ defensive errors and, despite an away goal from Mo Salah, it’s going to be difficult to progress in the competition.

“If you want to go to the semi-finals you have to earn the right to do so,” said Jurgen Klopp after the game. “We didn’t do that tonight, especially in the first half.

“The only good thing I can say about the game apart from that we scored a goal, is that it’s only the first half of the leg.

“We just didn’t play good enough football tonight.”

The return leg will be played at Anfield on Wednesday, 14th April (kick-off 8pm).
