Jurgen Klopp was asked about the possibility of Liverpool signing a midfielder before the transfer window closes. Here was his response…
“The closer we get to the last minute, the more likely it gets, that’s how it is,” he said during his pre-Newcastle presser. “We are not out.
“It’s really difficult because for sure there are a few players out there which would be the right ones, but they have different issues.
“Some of them are contracted to clubs that don’t want to sell. We cannot force it. We’ll see.”
Klopp appears to be referring to Jude Bellingham here, who has reportedly agreed a move to Liverpool at the end of the season, which is one of the reasons the club has been reluctant to bring somebody else in now.
With the window closing at 11pm on Thursday night, time is running out on a possible deal.
The Reds will be up for Wednesday night’s game after Saturday’s 9-0 demolition of Bournemouth, which contributed to the sacking of Cherries boss Scott Parker today.
