Gone are the salmon link diagonal candy stripes that made the current kit look more like something you would wear on the beach rather than on a football field. Instead, Nike have gone all minimal – reverting to a nice, clean red design that we are more familiar with.

In true PR buzzword style, Liverpool FC claim the kit is ‘Inspired by the attitude of ‘Scouse solidarity’, the bold, no-nonsense design reflects the mentality of its people, a mentality that makes Liverpool unique.’

Basically, it’s all red!

The 96 eternal flame emblem on the back has now changed to 97 in recognition of Andrew Stanley Devine who died last year as a result of the Hillsborough disaster.

Kit prices are frozen, so even though this is going to cost you an arm and a leg, it won’t be any more than last year. The new kit will be launched on Thursday May 19th and the home goalkeeper kit will be available later in the month.
