Manager History Phil Taylor

Phil Taylor

Phil Taylor was the only Liverpool boss not to manage the side in the first division.

He signed for Liverpool as a player from Bristol Rovers in 1936 and became club captain under Don Welsh before taking over as manager from him in 1956.

Taylor spent four years in charge at Anfield before making way for Bill Shankly to take the helm in 1960.
