Roger Hunt

Roger Hunt was a Liverpool forward for 11 years from 1958 to 1969 and was, at the time, the club’s record goalscorer with 286 goals.

Although he was signed by Phil Taylor, Hunt went on to become one of Bill Shankly‘s key players, helping the Reds earn promotion to the first division and winning two league titles and an FA Cup during his time at Anfield.

He earned 34 caps for England, scoring 18 goals for his country and helping Sir Alf Ramsay’s team go on to win the World Cup in 1966.

Hunt died on 27 September 2021 at the age of 83 and, although he was never knighted, will always be known as Sir Roger to Liverpool fans.
