Tasked with filling the back pages with words and pictures, the red tops are skilled in spinning stories often out of thin air.

Players’ agents, keen to get their percentage from those big money transfers to or from Liverpool FC, feed the rumours, fuel the gossip and stand back while social media explodes as the stories are shared.

Avoiding anything to do with The Sun for obvious reasons, here are just a few such stories from today’s papers…

Unwanted player offered exit as Reds scout youngster

The Sunday Mirror offer two for the price of one, dismissing Jurgen Klopp’s statement that there will be no changes in January and claiming that ‘unwanted Liverpool man Lazar Markovic will be offered an Anfield escape by Club America’ and they are ‘watching Birmingham youngster Romello Mitchell’. Both stories are lifted from ESPN and the Mail respectively.

Hull interested in Woodburn

Apparently ‘Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn is wanted on loan by Championship club Hull City for the rest of the season.’ This rumour is possibly the most likely to be true after Woodburn’s return from Sheffield United and no place in the current Liverpool FC squad for him.
