Liverpool close in on Butland

Liverpool are confident of signing Jack Butland this summer, according to reports.

The Reds are apparently happy to shell out Stoke City’s £40m asking price, as Jurgen Klopp looks to solve his goalkeeper crisis.

Arsenal are also interested in the 24-year-old England international stopper, but Butland is believed to favour a move to Anfield than the Emirates, according to the Sunday Mirror.

While Loris Karius has stepped up to the mark after being given the first choice keeper role in recent weeks, there is still need for more quality of Liverpool are to push for the Premier League title next season.

If the Butland deal is done it will almost certainly see the departure of Simon Mignolet after five years at the club.
